About
Ah, reading fanfiction... favorite past time of die hard fanatics. Have you ever thought about writing your own? Try it out here!
Where to Post Your Fanfiction
You will notice in this board there are sub boards labeled things such as 'Books' or 'Games.' Whatever fandom* you are basing your piece on is where you put it. There are a lot of books that get turned into movies. In this case I would ask you to create your thread in the sub forum based on the universe you are using meaning if you're following the Harry Potter books which are more in detail, create your thread in the 'Books' sub board. I have also added a 'Spoof' sub board where you can play around with your fanfiction to your heart's content but you must still add your disclaimer! If you have a fanfiction that does not fit in any of the categories post the thread directly in this board.
Copyright and Credit
Your story or characters may not be your own and for this you'll need to add a disclaimer. Just give credit to copyright holders specifying which concepts you are using that do not belong to you (story, setting, characters, etc.) and you'll be fine.
Changing Your Mind - Collaboration
Only the original author should be posting in his or her thread. If you decide to continue your work with someone else you may ask a mod or myself to move a thread for you to the 'Collaboration Projects' board but until we do only the author may continue with your partner on your fanfiction!
Things to Consider
Here are some things you should probably keep in mind before posting your fanfiction. 1) Most people love the characters of their favorite TV show or book like the character was their own. A good way to stay in character is to study whichever interest you are basing your screenplay on and to make a character cheat sheet for them! 2) Before writing up a new fanfiction, you should be aware of the rules of your fandom An example of this would be Ravenclaws don't have passwords, they must answer a riddle to get into their common room or electronics are not allowed at Hogwarts, things to that effect, although ultimately everything is up to you as far as creativity and how you will play the characters.
*Fandom: A fandom (fan domain) is a community of people that bond over a common interest such as a television show, game, movie, book, etc.
**Read the General Rules sticky located in the 'Site Rules' board before
posting or creating a new thread!
This is a requirement! Also check the 'Site Rules' board frequently for updates and announcements!
